Product Description

Julius Fučik was born in Prague and is known as an Austrian-Bohemian king of marches. He studied composition with famous Antonìn Dvoràk. He passed his carreer mainly as military bandmaster in the Austrian-Hungarian army and composed beside world known marches around 400 pieces, containing overtures, waltzes dances and character pieces. He wrote Einzug der Gladiatoren (Entry of the Gladiators) on 17 October 1899 in Sarajevo, where he was stationed as military bandmaster of the Austrian-Hungarian army. Originally titled "Grande Marche Chromatique", it became one of his most famous compositions. The arrangement is kept in the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was commissioned and first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their "New Year's Concert" on 6 January 2011 at the "Grosses Festspielhaus" (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria.
