This set of pieces is originally composed for Flute and Piano. Apart from Brass players, Flutists were the performers I got to work with the most as an accompanist. I was fortunate to be able to perform with many excellent players, and learned a bit about the repertoire in the process. Here a gentle Andante, with long phrases and repeated notes, is constrasted by a lively and somehow mischeivous (but not quite diabolical) Scherzo. A wide range of the Flute is explored, with some trills and rapid passages along the way. This piece makes a unique addition to any recital programme. Influences noted for the Scherzo include Walter Piston
and Bela Bartok. For advanced-level 4 or 5 players.
