Product Description

Johann Strauss wrote his Bauern Polka (Peasant Polka) in 1863 in Russia. It premiered on 29 August in Pavlovsk near Saint Petersburg. The piece was enthusiastically recieved there. The musicians sang along the melodies and stomped the beat with their feet, so even tsar Alexander II came to hear the work. The arrangement is kept in the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was commissioned and first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their "New Year's Concert" on 6 January 2012 at the "Grosses Festspielhaus" (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria. A live recording of this concert is available at https://www.salzburg-windphilharmonic.at/de/musikalische-schaetze-aus-russland-und-wien/ or https://www.jpc.de/jpcng/classic/detail/-/art/schaetze-aus-russland-und-wien/hnum/10428736?iampartner=303&subid=umr54&ref=partner.jpc.de .
