Product Description

Gorgeous, stunning, chilling traditional Bulgarian folk song in three-part harmony.

Note that the range for each part is only about an octave, so many low and high voices can sing any part. This also makes it easy to transpose and stay in range, or good for singers with limited range. I wrote all the parts in 8vb treble clef because this is easier to read (given the range), although this is unconventional for a song sung by a choir with "female" in the name.

I desperately wanted this arrangement and could not find it publicly, so I transcribed it! I stayed as close as possible to the original recording by the Bulgarian State Television Female Choir, but also used Youtube performances by KITKA and Northern Harmony when needed. All three groups performed them slightly differently, but the differences are incredibly minor (mainly in the solo section of the chorus). I kept it in the original key (C# minor). All versions online credit Nikolaj Kaufman as the original arranger.

Transliterated from Bulgarian (Cyrillic alphabet) into English (Latin alphabet).
I found the lyrics to the folk song here, but plugged them in Google Translate and used that transliteration, as I found it seemed more faithful and easier for English speakers to pronounce.
