Moonlight on the North Country is an experiment and collaboration with my cousin Anatolya. Challenged with writing a piece about my experience of her painting, the result is a work for Conical Brass. The mellow shape and sound of the instruments lends itself to a much more textural style of writing, with emphasis on the composite rhythms of the work rather than an overarching melodic line.
