Product Description

This is a collection of blessings set for SATB choir. An organ may be used to provide a discrete drone for A Harvest Blessing, while an optional short introduction and colla parte accompaniment have been provided for Aaronic Blessing. All three may, of course, be performed unaccompanied.

While united by the theme of benediction, these pieces are distinct in style. Harvest Blessing refers to the overtone series, while An Irish Blessing makes use of mitigated planing, in which parts moving as block chords are offset by contrary motion, holds (non-traditional suspensions) and other devices. Aaronic Blessing is the longest piece in the collection, and features a variety of contrapuntal textures, although it is essentially highly tuneful in character.
