Product Description

This arrangement of J.S. Bachs chorale from Cantata No. 147 is especially appropriate for Holy Week, particularly Maundy Thursday or Good Friday. The text draws from the story of Peters sorrowful confession following his denial of Christ, culminating in the final line: Ere the morning rooster cried, I my Savior thrice denied.

The familiar melody is set over a piano accompaniment that preserves the dignity of Bachs style, while shifting primarily to the relative minor key. This subtle transformation enhances the tone of lament and reflection, supporting the message of repentance and grace.

Vocal range: G4 to F5 (notated in treble clef)
Suitable for: Treble or bass voice
Difficulty: Moderate (suitable for experienced soloists)
Includes: Piano accompaniment in a Baroque-inspired style
Best for: Holy Week, Maundy Thursday, or Good Friday services
Also available: A version for lower voices (Eb4 to Db5, also notated in treble clef)
