Product Description

Key: C Major
Pages: 2 + 2 (different versions with and without TAB)

Note:
This includes a tablature version and a sheet music version with chord diagrams. Both versions of this song are 2 pages each to avoid page turns. The first version I try to stick to the more conventional and original chords. The second version is more of a unique arrangement. Just be careful with your printer settings if you don't want both versions.

Features
1.
Arranged for guitar.
2. Chord re-harmonized to be more idiomatic for guitar and more interesting. Some ornamental chord substitutions are in parentheses.
3. Guitar Tab added.
4. Guitar diagrams added.
5. Left hand fingerings added. Many were added this time because luckily which fret and which finger stay consistent the majority of the time.
6. Letter names added for aiding in sight-reading.
7. Slurs added.
8. Engraved to fit on two pages.
9. Fonts made larger and more appealing.
10. Beginner friendly

Tips:

1. It's ideal if the chord never goes higher in pitch than the main melody, otherwise it will sound like a new melody.
2. Performers tend to over dramatize the ending with slow motion (ritardando).
3. The G7 in measure 5 "points harder" than the regular G Major chord.
4. The Bb7 chord in the 2nd to last phrase is a jazzy chord substitution for G7. I liked it so I kept it.

History:
1. Francis Scott Key wrote "The Star-Spangled Banner" in 1814. Key wrote the lyrics as a poem titled "Defence of Fort M'Henry." It was later set to the tune of a popualr British song composed by John Stafford Smith.
2. The song became the national anthem of the US by a congressional resolution on March 3, 1931, signed by President Herbert Hoover.
3. The anthem's lyrics come from the first stanza of Key's poem, which consists of four stanzas. However, only the first stanza is commonly sung today.
4. The melody Key chose was from "To Anacreon in Heaven," a popular British drinking song.
