The storm rolls in and the darkened sky is alight with the fury of nature. There is a sense of foreboding in the air and the blackness is rent by streaks of lightning. It is an awesome display of fireworks in the heavens, yet one cannot help but feel glad to be witnessing it from the safety of home. To be caught outside in the maelstrom is to have one's very life placed in the path of danger. There is but one hope: to wait for the tempest to pass. The dissonant chords at the beginning represent the flashes of lightning and the more rhapsodic section in the middle is reminiscent of the wind howling through the trees as the clouds go scudding across the flash-streaked sky. The lightning returns and builds to the end with a final, thundering crash.
