The work,
"Four Marion Antiphons", reflects the traditions of plainsong as well
as early liturgical choral polyphony, while embracing 21rst century harmonies
and styles. The Marion Antiphons have a long monastic tradition in the Roman
and Franciscan Church. Each antiphon was sung daily during one of the four main
divisions of the church year: "Alma
Redemptoris Mater" from advent to February 1, "Ave Regina Coelorum" from February
2 till Wednesday before Easter, "Regina Coeli Laetare" from
Easter to Trinity, and "Salve Regina" from Trinity to Advent.
