Product Description

This is the only known six-voice fugue in music literature; and despite the title, Bach himself thought of it as such, often referring to it as his "Prussian Fugue."  By the time of Bach, distinctions had nearly disappeared between ricercari and fugues.  Most organists, however, stick to the painfully slow tempi of ricercari in performance, and speeding it up a bit in this arrangement makes it much more accessible to players and listeners alike.  The FINALE audio extract is a bit misleading, as there is no sound bank for flugelhorns; but you certainly get the drift.  It's a bit of a haul; a C trumpet part has been included as a substitute for the Eb trumpet called for in the score.  This piece would work well as a brass ensemble chart.
