Product Description

After a short, eight-bar introduction, your audience will immediately recognize the beautiful, lilting waltz melody of Fritz Kreisler's "Liebesleid."
Translated commonly into English as "Love's Sorrow," this time-honored work by the Austrian-born violinist and composer has been a classical favorite since debuting in 1905. Kreisler's theme clearly speaks repeatedly to love lost and re-gained. Originally written for violin and piano, Ron Flintjer has developed this clean and uncomplicated arrangement for Early Intermediate String Orchestra. The initial percussion emphasis on the second and third beat of each measure sets the tone for this flowing piece in three-quarter time. Kreisler's simple yet haunting melody transitions several times from an opening minor key to an uplifting major key, and back - again and again - working its way to a wistful close. Expect a few moments of silence at at the conclusion of your orchestra's performance of this piece, as your audience digests the beauty of what they've just heard, before breaking into applause!
