Product Description

Jasmine was written for the excellent percussionist, and my good friend, Todd Hammes.  It was originally written in 1992, and revised in 2009-10.  It is a conventional solo sonata in that the three movements follow the common fast-slow-fast order and there are clear sectional delineations and much development throughout.  An actual jasmine plant grew vine-like outside my studio and filled the air with a beautiful scent inspired the music.  The harmonic and rhythmic language owes a lot to the jazz idiom, and combined with the horticultural inspiration gave the piece its punny title, 'Jazz-man.'

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard's global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters.
