Product Description

An SATB arrangement of Tom Waits song with piano accompaniment, as covered by many artists including Fay Hield, from whom I got the idea for this version. Although written for 4 parts, I have deliberately put the bass line firmly in the piano accompaniment so it could effectively be sung by a 3 part choir, as evidenced by the a capella section at the end. The words are based on British folksong imagery in which the briar represents 'man' and the rose represents 'woman'.
