David Colon

David Colón is a freelance guitarist based in the Los Angeles area. He is a graduate of the Jazz Studies program at California State University, Northridge, where he received multiple awards for his performances in a variety of ensembles ranging from trios to big bands. In 2015, he earned 3rd place at the International Wilson Center Jazz Guitar Competition.

David has since performed in a wide range of musical settings, including pit orchestras for productions with LACSA and CSUCI, as well as with jazz ensembles like the Igor Kogan Big Band and the Los Angeles Mambo All-Star Orchestra at renowned venues such as Catalina Jazz Club, Monterey Jazz Festival, The Blue Whale, Vibrato, and Vitello’s. He has also collaborated and performed with numerous Indie artists based in Los Angeles and abroad, including Ramon Mirabet, Jocelyn Jayne, Gracie Gray, Clark Sims, Renee Ines, and Marlaina Smith, appearing at iconic venues like Hotel Café, The Viper Room, The Bootleg, Molly Malone’s, and The Satellite.
 
In addition to his live performances, David released his debut album Right From the Start with his project David & Joss, as well as a solo guitar album titled Three Marigolds. He currently teaches private lessons in guitar, bass, ukulele, and piano at Grayson’s Tune Town, and is actively involved in recording and mixing for other artists.
