Becky Muncy
A large part of Becky Muncy’s heart and giftedness is centered on teaching, writing music and creating programs to enrich children’s and adult’s lives.

Becky grew up singing in choirs at her home church of Latonia Christian Church. Her mother taught her to play piano at age four. In her early teens, she and a group of friends formed a singing group called "The Teen Tones". They cut an album called "Love and Peace from The Teen Tones".  They continue to sing occasionally and remain lifelong friends.

After graduating from Northern Kentucy University, Becky taught K-6 music in Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana. She was on the piano faculty for several years at Malone College in Canton, Ohio and Cincinnati Christian University.

Becky retired in 2022 after teaching elementary music for 26 years for North Lawrence Community Schools in Bedford, IN.

One of her great joys has been in creating Blueprints for Life.  It is a children’s education series about character development.  The series includes original children’s songs and her own unique puppets.  She included the songs and puppets in her elementary music curriculum.  Becky was inspired to write these songs and curriculum from attending character education training through her school in 1999.

From 2000-2009 Becky was a local coordinator for the Nashville Songwriters Association International based in Nashville, TN. NSAI is a songwriting organization designed to help the local songwriters improve their craft of songwriting. In this capacity she led a monthly workshop and hosted special events for the local songwriters in Southern Indiana.

In 2003 Becky recorded an album of 18 songs and puppet dialogue for “Blueprints for Life” in Nashville, TN.  The Blueprints album was the 2005 winner of a “Classic Recording for Young Children” from the Children’s Music Web.

In 2005, Becky received a Lilly Teacher Fellowship Grant that enabled her to spend a week with a puppet maker to design new puppets and three weeks in England to study different types of puppetry.

She was inspired to create a television show entitled “Mrs. Muncy’s Musical Menagerie.” The show included her puppet friends and local children performing her songs.  Several segments of this show aired on Trinity Broadcasting Network, The Star Station in Bedford, IN and currently on You Tube.

Becky hosted “Joy In Our Town” on Trinity Broadcasting Network for several years.  She interviewed people associated with local charities and organizations in the greater Indianapolis and southern Indiana area.

In 2016 Becky received a 2nd Lilly Teacher Fellowship Grant to study Folk Music and Festivals in Japan. This trip further developed her excitement for sharing music of various genres with others.  Becky continues to write songs and programs for schools, churches and the local community.

From 2006-2024, Becky was the adult choir director at Sherwood Oaks Christian Church in Bloomington, IN.  She is currently the Traditional Music Coordinator at Sherwood Oaks. Becky organizes weekly worship services, writes and arranges music for choirs, ensembles and instruments.

Becky has been married to Rob Muncy for 47 years.  They have two daughters.  Their oldest daughter Bethany teaches English at a private girl’s school in Tokyo, Japan.  Their youngest daughter Caitlyn is a voice actress in Burbank, CA.
