New South Music

Shane Porter, founder of New South Music and The New South Jazz Orchestra, has written music for jazz bands, concert bands, marching bands, and choirs throughout the country. His arrangements have been featured on ESPN and can frequently be heard during collegiate football game broadcasts on other networks. He has been composing or arranging since the age of 18. He attended the University of Alabama and received a Bachelors degree in Arranging and composition, studying with Steve Sample and Tom Wolfe. While attending Troy University for his Masters Degree in Music Education, he was fortunate enough to study with great composers, Robert W. Smith and Ralph Ford. Shane has been predominantly an independent contractor for arrangements and compositions, creating an extensive catalog of unique arrangements and compositions. Most notable jazz releases are from the Big Band of Brothers "Tribute to the Allman Brothers" and The New South Jazz Orchestra.
