Sérgio Varalonga
SÉRGIO VARALONGA born in 1984 in Leiria (Portugal) is a professional pianist, composer and piano teacher. Sérgio studied piano in the Conservatory of Orfeão de Leiria, then with Amadeu Pinho (disciple of Tania Achot and Estéban Sanchez) and then composition in Badajoz (Spain) with Vasco Pereira (disciple of Juan Pérez Ribes). Sérgio won many prizes as pianist and composer. As a pianist he gives solo recitals, plays with small ensembles and with orchestras, having worked with many conductors such as Jéan Sebastian Béreau, Alberto Roque, Rui Carreira, Mário Teixeira, José Eduardo Gomes, Luis Casalinho, Paulo Branco, Paulo Clemente, Gualdino Branco, and many others. Usually in his concerts plays his original works, works by classical composers, played the première of many original works of contemporary composers and already recorded the soundtrack for many internacional movies such as Don’t say my name (2022), Brin d’amour (2019), and others. As composer already composed over 100 works, published dozens of books, did many arranges of classic works for Wind Bands and worked as copyist in dozens of movies in a partnership with André Barros (movie composer of dozens of soundtracks). Nowadays works as a piano and composition teacher in the Conservatory of Arts Orfeão de Leiria.
