Jazz trumpet teacher at the G. Verdi Conservatory in Milan and active musician on several fronts, Alberto Mandarini collaborated with G. Gaslini, B. Tommaso, G. Schiaffini, G. Trovesi, M. P. De vito, D. Torto, D. Betti, G. Schuller, E. Dean, T. Berne, T. Scott, M. Schneider, C. Mariano, B. Chevillon, J. Riley, X. Girotto, A. Sheppard, C. Taylor, J. Surman and A. Braxton.
In addition to having been part of the Grande Orchestra Nazionale di Jazz (later conducted in 2018), of Phantabrass, of the Crescendo Big Band and of the big band of Dino Betti Van Der Noot (award-winning by Musica Jazz magazine), he collaborated in the foundation of: Trumpet Buzz duo, Brasserie Trio, Rara Jazz Quartet, 4tune Quartet, Enten Eller and Trio Belcanto.
In 2000 he was a finalist with honorable mention in Paris at the European audition for the Orchestre National de Jazz of France.
Founding member of the Italian Instabile Orchestra, from 1995 to 2004 he was part of the orchestra of Paolo Conte.
He composed and directed the music for the short film Nanà (best film at the Cinecittà Holding 2005 festival) and made several shows such as: Metamorphosis, RotaAzione, Love Song, E(x)tinzione, Astratte Mutazioni, Io nel pensier mi fingo, Il Rock, Ciak Si Suona, Boom!, ’80 Reloaded, Le Stagioni dell’amore, La Testa Del Chiodo, Partenze e Ripartenze, 7 Suggestioni di Razza and Oscurità.
In 2020 he joined the Lorenzo De Finti Quartet.
During his career, he gave life to his own quartet, the Phoebus Ensemble, EXP 4, the Nu Trio, the Duo with Daniele Tione and Mach 6.
He has held seminars in Seville, Lecco, Mexico City, Pretoria, Courmayeur, Cogne, Rovereto, Merano Chatillon, Laurino and Cannes.
He has also taught various jazz disciplines at the Conservatories of Parma, Como, Trieste, Brescia, Novara and at the Vallotti Music School of Vercelli and the University of Pavia.
He has performed in the most important European, American, South American, South African, and Asian cities, recording about 100 albums (LP, CD and DVD).
