This is a beautiful melody by Duke Ellington titled "Black Butterfly". Other then Ellington recording it, I have only heard two other recorded versions. One by Charles Lloyd in 2001 on the album "The Water Is Wide" (ECM), and the other by Les Strand in 1958 on "Les Strand Plays Duke Ellington" (Fantasy). If you are looking for a pretty ballad to play, or an Ellington composition that is not often heard, I would recommend this one. Enjoy!
