Product Description
A completely unexpected and darker interpretation of this familiar hymn, the arranger focuses on both the grace of God but also the sin that is in all of us. As human beings, we are always in need of grace and forgiveness and even though it is undeserved, we have it through our Lord, Jesus Christ. As Pastor Timothy Keller once said, "..the more you see your own flaws and sins, the more precious, electrifying, and amazing Gods grace appears to you." This piece opens with a dark and reflective introduction that sets up the presentation of the hymn tune in a minor key. Only when the words "Grace, Grace" appear is when the tonality changes, but it is soon followed by the intensity of the word "sin". The musical personification of grace appears at the end of the piece where a quote of the original hymn tune appears. This piece would be appropriate for worship services, recitals, or personal devotional time at the piano. Duration: 3:34.
Appropriate for: Grace, Forgiveness, Repentance, Personal Holiness, Lent
