This intermediate composition for solo piano (3 minutes) is the ninth in a series of twelve meditations. Its pensive, subtle character is achieved through lush, jazz-inspired harmonies which carefully balance light and shadows. The middle section has a change in mood, evoking the spirit of 1960s spy-thriller movie scores, ala James Bond. Overall, this moderately slow meditation grants the performer freedom to explore a wide range of musical emotions.
Sustain pedal should be used throughout, and although the left hand accompaniment contains some secondary melodies, care should be taken to keep the primary melody in the right-hand more prominent.
