Product Description

"The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy)" was written by Paul Simon and was originally released on the Simon and Garfunkel 1966 album entitled "Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme". Inspiration for the song came during a walk across the Queensboro Bridge in New York, and it features a repeating riff or hook with a shuffling rhythm that underpins the whole of the song. In this arrangement the melody is in the soprano part, but almost any voice could sing it, even soloists, and then a backing choir could be assigned to the riff. Despite its repetative structure and apparent simplicity, maintaining a steady "groove" can be tricky, but most intermediate level school and amateur choirs should be able to rise to the challenge. If necessary, some simple strummed chords could provide an accompaniment to keep everyone at pitch.
