Product Description

Pomp and Circumstance No. 1, the best known of the six marches for orchestra premiered in Liverpool on 19 October 1901, with Alfred Rodewald conducting the Liverpool Orchestral Society, to whom Elgar dedicated this march. Elgar also wrote himself an instrumentation for military band one whole tone lower than the orchestral version. This arrangement aimed to transfer the sound effects of the orchestral version to a Symphonic Band, as it was desired, commissioned and first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their "Three Kings' Concert" on 6 January 2015 in the "Grosses Festspielhaus" (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria. A live recording of this concert is available at https://www.salzburg-windphilharmonic.at/de/wien-trifft-london/ or https://www.jpc.de/jpcng/classic/detail/-/art/wien-trifft-london/hnum/10428729?iampartner=303&subid=umr3&ref=partner.jpc.de .
