This piece (for mezzo-soprano and piano) as the form suggests, has two contrasting sections, the first of which repeats in a
slightly varied form. Section A is very contemplative and reflective with a feeling of gazing into Heaven.
Section B contains a highly energetic repetitive piano part which accompanies a fabulous expressive and fun
soprano solo which, with its wide leaps and exuberance, is really a celebration of life. This piece is filled with
lots of melodic twists and turns, wide and unusual leaps, and a variety of dynamics. Especially challenging
perhaps is the need for the Soprano to start and also return to unsupported notes and to create a completely
independent vocal part separate from the piano accompaniment. The piano accompaniment in section A is filled with long held clusters. In contrast, the Section B is very energized and filled with repetitive rhythmical
clusters. A show stopper and a wonderful challenge for the virtuoso soprano or mezzo-soprano.
