Pierre Arvay (1924 - 1980) was a French composer and arranger particularly known in the world of library music. The Merry Ocarina is a charming little piece originally featuring the Ocarina, but in this arrangement replaced by the Tenor Recorder. The interplay between the recorder and glockenspiel provides a contrast in tone and texture and is accompanied in a implistic style by the suspended cymbal, guitar and bass.

'The Merry Ocarina' was used to accompany a segment of the British TV children's programme 'Vision On' featuring 'Humphrey', the tortoise.
