A perfect piece to inject a note of solemnity into a contemporary program, this work was composed as part of a multi-arts initiative at the New Britain Museum of American Art designed to bring attention to the issue of homelessness.

All five instruments - flute, oboe, violin, cello and piano - feature equally in this work, and all are integral to its success. The piece features frequent shifts in meter, rubato sections where the feel of pulse and barline disappear, and percussive finger tapping on instrument bodies.
