Product Description
Baroque Suite is a set of 'recompositions' for piano. The movements are based on well
known keyboard works by Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frederic Handel, and Carl
Philip Emmanuel Bach. While C.P.E. Bach is considered part of the Classical era, I felt
that his Solfeggietto still exhibited a Baroque character and created a nice bookend to the
Invention by his father. The works retain their original temporal structures, but have
been altered so that they project sustained harmonies for longer periods of time. This lack
of harmonic rhythm is antithetical to the original intent, and instead reflects my own
compositional aesthetic.
The pieces upon which this work is based should be recognizable to piano students and teachers everywhere. Their subtle twists on the originals can make for a fun game for the audience.
