Accidentally in Love - Counting Crows
Arranged by Nat Brookes for String Quartet
Pop Pad
Ideal for a school string ensemble or a string quartet, also an upbeat, cheerful pop ballad to add to quartet pads, sure to be recognised by many from Dreamworks' Shrek 2.
updated June 2022
The piece will improve confidence with slurring and use of 4th fingers in all upper string parts, potentially providing a useful discussion point as to when to use or not use 4th finger. Sharing of the tune in different octaves round the parts encourages confidence in tune playing and phrasing and the recurrence of strong, recognisable riffs within parts combined with mostly homo-rhythmic harmonies in other parts provides a useful anchor to hesitant sight readers.
Whilst it can almost all be played in 1st position, Violin 1s wanting a challenge will find that most of the part fits nicely under the hand in third position, potentially improving 3rd position intonation. (G should be played an octave lower than written for those uncomfortable with 3rd position)
The viola part is all playable by a single viola comfortable with double stopping, or multiple violas playing divisi.
Bound to appeal to a wide range of ages due to it's use in the popular Dreamworks Animation 'Shrek 2'
Included: Score and set of parts.
Each part is two pages long to avoid page turns.
Rehearsal marks throughout.
