These short piano solos were commissioned as part of the first annual "Christmas in July" showcase in 2019. The composition encodes the donors first name ("praenomen") as a musical motif, which is stated before the start of each piece. I also enjoyed imagining ways that each piece could reflect an aspect of each subject: 1. Barbara is a classy woman who I imagine has quite a social calendar; 2. Rachel manages three energetic children (two are my students) yet remains cool-headed; 3. John is a former adult student with an interest in new age piano music; 4. Marjorie is an effervescent personality and a logical thinker; 5. Angela is a thoughtful friend and is full of pep; and 6. Jean is a fellow church pianist who enjoys that genres sentimental style. These compositions can, of course, be enjoyed for their own merits.
