The title BLUE MARLIN WALTZ is derived from the piece being initially conceived for a group that resides in the US North Atlantic Coast. BLUE MARLIN WALTZ  uses simple triple meter with highly syncopated rhythms of eight, dotted-eight and sixteenth notes. Written in an F major mode, it begins with a majestic and song-like melody in the trumpets and horns, providing the foundation for the melodic and motivic materials for the rest of the composition.
