Product Description

Henryk Pachulski (1859-1921, sometimes spelled Pachulsky) was a Polish-born pianist, composer and teacher who
spent most of his life in Russia. He was born the son of a surveyor and forester, in Łazy, near Siedlce, Poland. He studied at the Warsaw Institute of Music under Stanisław Moniuszko and Władysław Żeleński, then at the Moscow Conservatory from 1880, studying with Aleksander Michałowski, Pavel (Paul) Pabst, Nikolai Rubinstein, and Anton Arensky. From 1886 to 1917 he was professor of piano at the conservatory. He never returned to his native country.

His music is accessible, enjoyable, and worth a second look. Only his Prelude in C Minor, op.
8 no. 1 is played with any frequency these days. This rediscovery is very accessible technically and
musically, and makes a valuable addition to the developing pianist's repertoire.  It could be used in recital performance, as
well as in church service or wedding-music playing.

This newly-engraved edition by Rick Robertson spaces the music out to make it easier to read.
Some confusing notation is cleared up as well.
