Bonnie Tyler's hit was originally released in 1984 as part of the soundtrack of the film Footloose. The hero described in the lyrics is a tempestuous, Byronic character, situated in sublime landscapes of mountainous terrain and wild weather. The driving rock beat, meanwhile, paints a picture of both his power and the urgency of the singer's desire for him.
