For years this choral piece was one of the mainstays of the Tennebrae/Good Friday service at Kansas City First Church of the Nazarene. Blessedas we wereto have a thriving orchestra program, I constantly looked for ways to allow more instrumentalists to accompany the choir. This particular accompaniment was for a small ensemble: flute, clarinet, and strings.
Again let me remind you that the use of just one of these instruments can be treated as an obbligato and will enhance the presentation.
Also, remember that because the score is a C score, one or more missing parts can be easily covered by a keyboard.
