The Lazy Mississippi is an original ballad from the Official Iowa 1976 Bi-Centennial Musical - "Get the Lead Out!" The original musical-drama was seen by more than 11,000 in the summer of 1976. "Lazy Mississippi" was one of the stand-out favorites from the original score. The melody has a folk-like quality with elements of blues. This arrangement for string quartet is rich in harmony and beautiful individual melodic lines.
