Product Description
Wabash
Cannonball is an American folk song that celebrates the scenic beauty
and predicaments of the Great Rock Island train route. Roy
Acuff of the Grand Ole Opry and Pete Seeger,
among others, popularized the tune in the 20th Century. The Indiana University
Marching Sycamores and Lumberjack Marching Band, the Kansas
State University Marching Band, the Texas Tech University Goin'
Band from Raiderland, and the University of Texas Longhorn
Band use it as a theme song.
This "old-time" arrangement for Intermediate
fiddle and violin features a train whistle (with
instructions for how to play it) and chords. It is included in McIntire's
series, Mountain Mommas Fiddle Tunes. Other tunes in the series
include Whiskey Before Breakfast, West Fork Gals, Kitchen Girl, and The
Big Rock Candy Mountain.
