Part of the legend of Robin Hood in which he overcomes the proud bishop of Hereford who tried to arrest him, and, by way of penance or simply fun, forces him to do an ungainly dance.
The piece is in 11 time, a limping waltz as it were.
Other versions are avaialable: for organ solo, clarinet quartet, string quartet and flute quartet.
