Escape Velocity is a piece for advanced intermediate string orchestra.  This work features accelerando, ostinato rhythmic patterns, col legno, riccochet, and a violin solo and duet.  The gradual increase in speed is meant to imitate the acceleration needed to reach the velocity at which an object is able to escape gravity and reach orbit.
