Product Description

Set to Henry Alford's words, "Come, Ye Thankful People, Come" is one of the most popular hymns for Thanksgiving. This setting treats the tune as a chorale prelude for piano (or organ), with the tune in the soprano.

Hymnary.org tells us that English organist George Job Elvey (1816-1893 ), the composer of the tune, ST. GEORGE'S WINDSOR, was educated at Oxford and at the Royal Academy of Music. At age nineteen Elvey became organist and master of the boys' choir at St. George Chapel, Windsor, where he remained until his retirement in 1882. He was knighted after he provided music for Princess Louise's wedding in 1871
