"What Wondrous Love Is This" (sometimes called just "Wondrous Love") is a Christian folk hymn. The text was first published in 1811 and its melody adapted from a popular English ballad, "The Ballad of Captain Kidd." The words and melody were first published together in 1835 in The Southern Harmony, a book of shape note hymns gathered by William Walker. It is now included in hymnals of many Christian churches.
