One of Buddy Rich's hit songs, Channel One Suite is a piece that is anywhere between 12 and 20 minutes, and is very difficult. This challenging piece features a tenor saxophone soloist and the drummer, with open cadenzas for both musicians. Many arrangements don't match the stylistic and melodic details of Buddy Rich's band, but this specific arrangement was made to match up perfectly with his recordings, to ensure that the musicians can listen and study their part to the real thing without errors in their parts.
This specific arrangement was made with his recording from his album, "Mercy, Mercy" in mind.
This piece is very difficult, but very fun to play with the right musicians!
