Product Description

Émile Pessard lived all his life in Paris. He studied at the Paris Conservatoire and won first prize in harmony and later became a professor of harmony at the conservatoire. In 1866 he won the Grand Prix de Rome with his cantata Dalila which was performed at the Paris Opera in 1867. Maurice Ravel and Jacques Ibert were among his many distinguished students. This arrangement of "Andalouse"  from his 25 pieces Op 20 is for oboe and piano and would be suitable as an additional repertoire piece for an aspiring oboist. "Andalouse" has a Spanish feel with fast semiquaver passages and would be suitable for classroom study, concerts, competions or a church interlude. Duration 02:30.
