Written in 2014, this Silent Durations Fifty (a Zen experience) differs from most of the others due to its mostly non-synchronous organization. Each player plays independently and in their own tempo. Dynamics are flexible. These Silent Duration pieces are notable for their incorporation of silence as an integral part of the compositional fabric. There is a detailed explanation found in the program notes of the score. The work is written for the tenor recorder and Turkish Kiz ney. The duration is between 5 and 10 minutes.

Silent Durations Fifty was premiered by TWO Maria Dorner-Hofmann and Drake Mabry at the Burgkappelle Hof am Regen, Nittenau, Germany on October 2, 2014.
