Silent Durations XXIX (a Zen experience) was written for the French double bass virtuoso Benoit Richard. He is equally at home with classical music, improvisation and gypsy music. These elements found their way into this piece in various subtle ways. These Silent Duration pieces are notable for their incorporation of silence as an integral part of the compositional fabric. To date Ive written over forty works in this style from solo to large orchestra. The duration is 7'45.
