Product Description

ACT ONE: Song 9 "The King," by Dennis McCorkle, is a contemporary pop-rock musical of the first two kings of Israel, Saul ben Kish and David ben Jesse and explores the contrasting lives and outcome of each mans choices in life. [1 Samuel 15:24-28 - "And Saul said to Samuel: I have sinned; for I have transgressed the commandment of Yahweh, and your words; because I feared the people, and hearkened to their voice. 25 Now therefore, I pray you, pardon my sin, and return with me, that I may worship Yahweh. 26 And Samuel said unto Saul: 'I will not return with you; for you have rejected the word of Yahweh, and Yahweh has rejected you from being king over Israel.' 27 And as Samuel turned about to go away, he laid hold upon the skirt of his robe, and it rent. 28 And Samuel said unto him: Yahweh has rent the kingdom of Israel from you this day, and has given it to a neighbor of yours, that is better than you."] The scene continues on the battlefield as SAMUEL tells SAUL that he is to totally destroy the Philistines. Lacking confidence in his own decisions, SAUL is sidestepped by his desire to please the people and their opinion of him. SAUL takes the battle but bends to the wishes of his soldiers to keep the best of the flock and allows their king to live. Confronted by SAMUEL and after many excuses realizes the seriousness of his actions and asks SAMUEL to help him ["The Way Back Home" Samuel and Saul].
