"Sahara", by Tin Pan Alley songwriter Jean Schwartz, was written in 1919, one year before the American Prohibition went into effect. The music for this song is slightly Middle Eastern in flavor, but the song, subtitled "We'll Soon Be Dry Like You", is a little tongue in cheek and the music reflects that humor.
