Product Description

TWO FROM SEVEN for Big Band- This piece is a re-thinking of the second movement from Beethovens Seventh Symphony Op. 92 written in 1811.  Beethoven commented that he thought it was one of his best works.  The orchestral version has been used numerous times for numerous purposes.  One of the more recent uses was in the 2011 film THE KINGS SPEECH.  It is a "slow burn" style piece.  It starts small with a relentless rhythmic and harmonic ostinato that builds and builds to a big band "shout" chorus.  There is a trumpet solo indicated, but the solo could be played by any member of the band.  There are optional parts for vibes and tuba.  The work is not overly difficult and could be mastered by a high school band with little effort.  Paramount to a good performance is articulation and dynamics.  Also, the blending of muted brass with saxophones should be considered.  There are no doublings.  Leade Tpt C6 (D6 opt.)
