For Flute Choir
Sunrise, Sunset from
FIDDLER ON THE ROOF
Program Notes
Sunrise, Sunset is one of the most well-known songs to come from the
musical Fiddler on the Roof. This poignant song is haunting and emotional. It
is sung during the wedding of the oldest daughter of the main characters, Tevye
and Golde, as they reminisce about how fast their children have grown. Now a standard, Sunrise, Sunset is often
heard at weddings. As a matter of fact,
Sunrise, Sunset was played at my wedding as I walked down the aisle. Its always held a special place in my heart.
This arrangement for flute choir can be performed with as
few as 5 players or with multiple players on a part. It is scored for 3 flutes, alto flute
(alternate c-flute part is included), and bass flute.
