Product Description

The Aria is a partita with variation & dance form sections. Arrangement includes unique notation practices of early Baroque. Frescobaldi was a Vatican organist / musician whose music mixed modes with hints of tonality during a period of transition to full "modern" tonality. The Aria is in Dorian mode, with score reading from C. His style described by scholar David Schulenberg as "one of the most eccentric and baffling repertories of Western music." A beautiful concert piece for carillon. (Youtube link on harpsichord, not carillon.)
