Product Description

This wonderful piece is originally for string orchestra and is a response to Britten's own 'Variations on a Theme by Frank Bridge'; it was commissioned by The Academy of St-Martin-in-the-Fields and dedicated to Sir Neville Marriner. It uses themes from Britten's second Sea Interlude, 'Sunday Morning' and moves through several contrasting styles of dance, including quadrille, baccarole and waltz, with more reflective moments along the way, ending in an exuberant coda. This complex piece demands a lot of patience, as many passages are quite advanced, and the open key is reflective of the string original, so expect plenty of unusual accidentals - you'll be rewarded with a fascinating homage to a composer that inspired many others, leaving a lasting legacy. This arrangement has been made as part of a project to widen the repertoire of music for concert band by women composers from around the world.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard's global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters. ArrangeMe allows for the publication of unique arrangements of both popular titles and original compositions from a wide variety of voices and backgrounds.
